Preview: Inter-Uni Pole Competition 2012

17th March 2012, Bristol University

The Inter-Uni Pole Competition in March 2012 promises to be an exciting day for students and non-students, participants and spectators alike. Aiming to promote pole dancing and fitness to universities and the wider environment, the competition provides a platform for dancers to become involved and experience competing in a national competition and representing their university. Hosted by last year’s winners Bristol/University of West England, this year will be bigger and better than last year, with even more universities from across the country competing.

The competition was started by Cardiff University’s Pole Society in 2011, and saw pole societies from Bristol/ University of West England, Derby, Bath and Cardiff Universities compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and Instructor categories. The scores for each of these categories were then added to the group performance for each University to get the title “Best Overall University”.

All proceeds from the event go to a charity, which this year is Bristol Rape Crisis. They provide specialist support for women and girls in surrounding areas who have been affected by rape or sexual violence at any point in their lives.
The competition starts at 12pm and finishes at 6 pm. More details and information on how to book tickets can be found here: www.interunipolecomp.co.uk/index.html
